Consensus for Peace
* India participated in
a meeting of regional partners on Afghanistan – 'Strengthening Consensus for
Peace'
Hosted by the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.
The meeting was chaired by President of Afghanistan H.E. Dr Mohammad Ashraf Ghani.
20 Countries and international organisations including the United Nations participated in the meeting. Joint Secretary (PAI) represented India.

* Issues
concerning Afghan peace and reconciliation process and support of the regional
partners to an independent, unified, democratic and sovereign Afghanistan were
discussed

India, one of the
largest development partners of Afghanistan, with the commitment of more than US $
3 billion, reiterated the importance of an inclusive, Afghan-led, Afghan –
owned, Afghan – controlled peace and reconciliation process.
* India expressed
support for a constitutional order in Afghanistan, which would protect the interest of all sections of Afghan society, including women, children and
minorities. India highlighted the fact that in order to achieve durable peace
in Afghanistan, putting an end to terrorist sanctuaries and safe havens is an
essential pre-requisite.

government on Monday launched ‘Nekar Samman Yojane’. In this scheme, the state
government will be able to directly transfer Rs 2,000 financial assistance to
the bank accounts of 19,744 weavers in the first phase
* According to fourth national handloom census, Karnataka has 54,789 registered handloom weavers in the state
* The silk, cotton and woollen handloom weavers and other handloom weavers engaged in allied activities in the state are eligible

Himachal Pradesh has become the first state in the country where
all households have LPG gas connections
*
1.36 lakh families in the state have benefitted from the scheme

As many as 2, 76,243 families were provided free gas connections
in the state under the scheme.
Þ NHAI to Rank Roads for
Quality Service
* In its effort to improve the quality of roads, the National
Highways Authority of India (NHAI) under the Ministry of Road Transport and
Highways have decided to undertake performance assessment and ranking of the
highways in the country. The assessment audit and ranking of the NHs is aimed
to take corrective recourse, wherever needed, to improve the quality and
provide a higher level of service to highway commuters.

The criteria for the assessment have been broadly categorised in
three main heads: Highway Efficiency (45%), Highway Safety (35%) and User
Services (20%)

Maha Jobs Portal
* Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray launched the Maha Jobs Portal to provide employment opportunities to local residents.
* The will help in the recruitment of skilled, semi-skilled and unskilled employees.
* Job seekers can apply for 17 sectors through the portal, including engineering, logistic, textile and pharmaceutical.
