National Events

      ·         The Mystical Triangle- Maheshwar, Mandu & Omkareshwar

§  Ministry of Tourism, Government of India’s DekhoApna Desh Webinar Series titled, “The Mystical Triangle- Maheshwar, Mandu & Omkareshwar” was organised. 

             Maheshwar or Mahishmati

§  Is one of the serene and captivating destinations of Madhya Pradesh

§  The city got its name after Lord Shiva/ Maheshwara, it also finds a mention in the epics Ramayana and Mahabharatha.

§  The Town lies on the north bank of the Narmada River.

§   It was the capital of the Malwa during the Maratha Holkar reign till 6 January 1818, when the capital was shifted to Indore by Malhar Rao Holkar III.

§  In the late 18th century, Maheshwar served as the capital of the great Maratha queen Rajmata Ahilya Devi Holkar.

Rajwada

§  Rajwada or the Royal Residence where the queen used to meet her people, a two-storied building

§  Ahilyeshwar temple, where Ahilya Devi used to offer prayers, Vitthal temple near Ahileshwar temple are must-stop places for aarti and to admire the architecture. There are around 91 temples that are built by the Rajmata

§  Ghats in Maheshwar are the best places to see the beauty of sunrise and sunset and the fort complex can also be seen at its best from Ahilya ghat.

§  Baneshwar temple which is dedicated to Lord Shiva is one of the must-see temples of Maheshwar especially during sunsets.

§  Narmada aarti is performed after sunset at Narmada ghat. 

§  Textiles are another important aspect that is developed by Ahilya Devi, she invited master weavers from Surat and South India to weave sarees that are unique from the existing ones. The designs used on these are inspirations from fort architecture and Narmada river. These were gifted to royal guests.

Rehwa Society was founded in 1979, is a non-profit organisation working for the welfare of weavers of Maheshwar. 

            Omkareshwar

§  Has 33 deities and 108 impressive shivling in divine form and this is the only Jyotirlinga which is situated on the north bank of Narmada.

§  Omkareshwar is a spiritual town in Madhya Pradesh

§   Shayan aarti is performed every day at 8:30pm in the evening and arranges a game of dice for Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvathi. Siddhanth temple is the most beautiful temple one should definitely save their time to explore this divine temple. 

 Mandu

§  Located in Madhya Pradesh is also known by the name of Mandavgarh, Shadiabad (City of Joy)

§  Mandu is mainly known for the love story of Sultan Baz Bahadur and Rani Roopmati.

§  Baz Bahadur's Palace built in 16th-century is famous for its large courtyards encompassed by large halls and high terraces. It is situated below Roopmati's Pavilion and can be seen from the pavilion.

§  Rewa Kund

A reservoir constructed by Baz Bahadur for the purpose of supplying water to Rani Roopmati's Pavilion. The reservoir is situated below the pavilion

§  Jahaz Mahal/Ship Palace

Situated between 2 artificial lakes, this two-storied architectural marvel is so named as it appears as a ship floating in water. Built by Sultan Ghiyas-ud-din-Khalji, it served as a harem for the sultan.

       ·         T-90 tanks

§  With an aim to boost ‘Make in India’ initiative of the Government, Acquisition Wing of Ministry of Defence (MoD), has signed a Contract with Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML) for procurement of 1,512 Mine Plough (MP) for Tank T-90 S/SK at an approximate cost of Rs 557 crore.

§   The contract has Buy and Make (Indian) categorisation with a minimum of 50% indigenous content in make portion of the contract.  

§  Planned to be completed by 2027

·         Zoram Mega Food Park 

§  Union Minister for Food Processing Industries Smt Badal virtually inaugurated the Zoram Mega Food Park in Mizoram
§  Park will leverage an additional investment of about Rs. 250 Crore in about 30 food processing units in the park
§  Would eventually lead to a turnover of about Rs. 450-500 crores annually. 
§  M/s Zoram Mega Food Park Pvt. Ltd. has been set up in 55.00 acres of land at a project cost of Rs. 75.20 crore.
§  The facilities created by the developer at Central Processing Centre (CPC) of this Mega Food Park include Cold Storage-1000MT, Drywarehouse-3000 MT, Aseptic pulp line with canning, aseptic and tetra packing-2 MT/Hr, Ripening Chambers-40MT/Hr, Spices drying facility-2MT/Hr, Food Testing Laboratory besides state of art enabling infrastructure.

·         CIPET gets accreditation by NABL

§  Central Institute of Petrochemicals Engineering and Technology, (CIPET) has been accredited by National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories NABL for Testing and Certification of PPE Kit.
§  CIPET is an apex level premium institute under the Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers.
§  The PPE kit includes Gloves, Coverall, Face Shield, Goggles and TripleLayer Medical masks in line with International Standards.

·         Giant Sea Cockroach

§  Researchers from Singapore have discovered a new species of cockroach at the bottom of the Indian Ocean — a 14-legged giant cockroach
§  Cockroach has been given the name “Bathynomus raksasa”.
§  The discovery was a joint effort by a team from the National University of Singapore and the Research Center for Oceanography, Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI).

·         UAE launches first mission to Mars

§  The United Arab Emirates' historic first mission to Mars is underway, after a successful lift-off in Japan. The Hope probe launched on an H2-A rocket from Tanegashima spaceport and is now on a 500-million-km journey to study the planet's weather and climate.

§  Two previous attempts to launch the probe in the past week had to be called off because of adverse weather. Hope's arrival in February 2021 is set to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the UAE's
