International Events


 ·         India and Israel collaboration in dealing with cyber threat

       India and Israel have signed an agreement to further, expand collaboration in dealing with cyber threats amid rapid digitisation due to the coronavirus pandemic that exposed the vulnerabilities of the virtual world. The agreement was signed between the Director-General of Israel's National Cyber Directorate (INCD), Yigal Unna, and India's Ambassador to Israel, Sanjeev Singla.

§  The COVID-19 pandemic and consequent lockdowns have adversely impacted the livelihoods of street vendors. Therefore, there is an urgent need to provide credit for working capital to street vendors to resume their business.
§  The scheme is a Central Sector Scheme i.e. fully funded by Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs
§  Objectives:
(i)            To facilitate working capital loan up to `10,000
(ii)          To incentivize regular repayment
(iii)         To reward digital transactions
§  Urban street vendors will be eligible to avail a Working Capital (WC) loan of up to `10,000 with tenure of 1 year and repaid in monthly instalments.
§  For this loan, no collateral will be taken by the lending institutions.
§   On timely or early repayment, the vendors will be eligible for the next cycle of working capital loan with an enhanced limit.
§  No prepayment penalty will be charged from the vendors for repayment before the scheduled date.
§  The vendors, availing loan under the scheme, are eligible to get an interest subsidy @ 7%.
§  The interest subsidy amount will be credited into the borrower’s account quarterly

·  NRDC Funds 16 COVID Technologies for Scaling up and Validation

§  The National Research Development Corporation (NRDC) invited proposals from the innovators under its DSIR grants-in-aid promotional programme for development of technologies for commercialization (PDTC) for Up-scaling the Covid-19 related technologies.
§  NRDC is an enterprise under DSIR, Ministry of Science and Technology
§  Against the advertisement, 65 proposals were received seeking funding from NRDC.
§  A 3 members external Technology Expert Committee was constituted and they have recommended 16 projects for funding as they are technically sound and relevant.
