v WHO Panel on COVID-19
Ø
World Health
Organization (WHO) has set up an independent panel to review its handling of
the COVID-19 pandemic and the response by governments
Ø Former New Zealand Prime Minister Helen Clark and former
Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf have agreed to head the panel. The
co-chairs will select the other members. The panel will then provide an interim
report to an annual meeting of health
Ø
Ministers in
November and present a substantive report next May.

sanitisation drive
Ø The Uttar Pradesh government will launch a massive sanitisation drive
across the state
Ø UP is under restrictions for a period of 55 hours

v NITI Aayog’s virtual
workshop
Ø
The NITI Aayog
has organized a virtual workshop with 47 Central Ministries/Departments
Ø To monitor the
performance of 29 select global indices to drive reforms and growth in the
country.
Ø Chaired by Cabinet Secretary, Rajiv Gauba.
Ø The methodology of stakeholder consultation; engagement
with publishing and survey/data agencies; a framework for state rankings, a platform for information sharing; and monitoring mechanism was discussed at
length in the workshop.
Ø The 29 global indices, published by 19 international
agencies have been assigned to 18 nodal ministries and departments of the
Government of India.

v ATL App Development

Ø NITI Aayog’s Atal
Innovation Mission today launched the ATL App
Development Module for school
children across the country.
Ø The ATL App is an online course, which is
completely Free.

project-based learning modules and online mentoring
sessions, young innovators
can learn to build mobile apps in various Indian languages and showcase their
talent.

build capacities and acumen for app development
within school teachers,
periodic Teacher Training sessions will be

v Corona Kavach
Ø Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) has
allowed 30 general & health insurers to launch short-term ‘Corona Kavach'
health insurance policies
Ø The policy will cover medical expenses which occur due to Coronavirus
disease.
Ø This policy can be availed by persons between the ages of 18 to 65
years.
Ø People can avail the policy for self, spouse, parents, parents-in-law
and dependent children up to 25 years of age.

Fish Cryobanks
Ø Fish Cryobanks will
be set up in different parts of the country.
Ø This will facilitate
all-time availability of fish sperms of desired species to fish farmers.

source of foreign direct investment (FDI) in 2019.

India's 2018 Tiger Census has made it to the Guinness Book of
World Records for being the world's largest on-camera wildlife survey.
Ø
The fourth cycle of the All India Tiger Estimation 2018
estimated 2,967 tigers or 75 per cent of the global tiger population in the
nation. Its results were declared to the nation on Global Tiger Day last year
by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
