Faster than Rajdhani Express: Indian Railways
invites private companies to run new trains
Ø Indian
Railways today said it has invited proposals from private companies to run 151
modern passenger trains.
Ø
The
railways will shortlist bidders to run train operations on 109 pairs of routes
across the country.
Ø
The project would entail private sector investment of about ₹30,000 crores, the Indian Railways said in a statement.
Ø
This
will be the first initiative of private investment for running passenger trains
over Indian Railways network, the railway ministry said.

two components: High-end workshops (‘KARYASHALA’) and research internships
(‘VRITIKA’). This is especially important for those who have limited
opportunities to access such learning capacities/infrastructure

current call for applications invites researchers for the winter season
(December 2020-January 2021) ‘KARYASHALA’ and ‘VRITIKA’.

due to non-passage of the Appropriation Bill, as a result of which it could not
pay salaries to its staff.

not be able to spend any money from the government coffers till a
constitutional process is completed and the state governor gives assent to the
Appropriation Bill.

Appropriation Bill, passed by the Legislative Assembly on June 16, could not
get through in the Council

The
Vote-on-Account Ordinance issued in March elapsed on June 30 but the crucial
Appropriation Bill, which paves the way for budgeted expenditure, did not
become law.
Ø
As per
the Constitution, a Money Bill is deemed to have been passed by the Council if
it is not returned to the Assembly within 14 days.
